Qutub Minar lights up in 'Jashn-e-Matdan' amidst general elections 2024
Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav visited Sitapur jail on Friday to meet former MP Azam Khan, discussing crucial matters related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024, particularly ticket distribution for Rampur and other constituencies. As per Akhilesh Yadav, the consent of Azam Khan, who is currently lodged in Sitapur jail, holds significance in finalizing candidates for Rampur, Moradabad, and surrounding areas. The meeting between Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan lasted for about one and a half hours, during which various issues were deliberated upon, focusing on the selection of candidates for key Lok Sabha seats.
Akhilesh Yadav emphasized the importance of a united opposition, stating that only the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) can defeat the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming elections. Criticizing the BJP government, Akhilesh Yadav accused them of weakening democracy by resorting to tactics such as arresting political leaders and controlling the media. He also raised concerns about the leaked papers of UP government exams, alleging that BJP's actions have adversely affected the future of thousands of children. Additionally, Akhilesh Yadav condemned the BJP for allegedly filing false cases against Azam Khan, labeling it as an attempt to suppress voices that could emerge as a formidable opposition force.
